The AMP Research BedStep™ is a retractable bumper-mounted step designed for pickup trucks. Installed under the rear bumper, it flips down with a light kick to help you easily access the truck bed—especially useful when lifting heavy items or avoiding awkward footing on the tailgate or bumper. When not in use, it tucks securely beneath the vehicle, nearly invisible.
Heavy-duty die‑cast aluminum frame for excellent strength and corrosion resistance—rated up to 300 lb load capacity.
Glass‑reinforced composite non‑slip step pad, large enough for big boots and reliable in snow, mud, or rain.
Retractable “kick‑down / kick‑up” design: simply kick downward to deploy, upward to stow it back under the bumper.Precision stainless‑steel pivot pins and self‑lubricating press‑fit bushings ensure smooth, maintenance‑free operation over time.
Corrosion-resistant finish: anodized and Teflon® powder‑coated to withstand harsh weather.
Simple bolt-on installation, with drilling required in some models. Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles (non-transferable, from original vehicle purchase).
Although the BedStep is engineered for all-weather durability and minimal upkeep, following these practices will help ensure long-term reliability:
Rinse periodically after heavy exposure to mud, road salt, or sand to prevent buildup and corrosion.
Visual inspection: check pivot pins, bushings, and frame connections periodically. If you notice play or rust, contact the manufacturer or a certified installer.
Lubrication: in most cases, no regular lubrication is needed thanks to self‑lubricating bushings. However, if pivot action becomes stiff, a light application of moisture-displacing lubricant (like silicone spray) can help—be sure it’s compatible with Teflon® surfaces.
Usage check: when stepping down or stowing the step, it should move smoothly. If binding or unusual noise occurs, stop using it and have it checked.
Winter care: ice can restrict movement—gently melt or remove ice buildup before deploying.
Warranty compliance: avoid modifying the step or installing it improperly; misuse or alteration may void warranty coverage, which lasts 3 years or 36,000 miles from purchase in the original vehicle.
