  • Corrision resistant frame - constructed from black extruded aluminum, stabilizing bar can be mounted on either side

Introducing ROCKSTAR™ Commercial Tow Flap – Agri-Cover, Inc

Overview of the Commerical Tow Flaps

The ROCKSTAR Commercial Tow Flap is a heavy-duty, full-width tow/mud flap system designed specifically for HD (heavy duty) and dually trucks. It mounts behind the bumper (or frame area) and provides broad protection from rocks, road debris, mud, and other hazards that might damage the trailer, truck, or cargo being towed.

Key descriptive points:

  • It is model-specific, meaning it's contoured to the vehicle so it provides maximum coverage without interfering (for example, with exhaust).

  • The flap is made of 5⁄16-inch composite rubber, which gives a balance of rigidity and flexibility while resisting “sailing” in wind.

  • It uses stainless steel mounting brackets (with an “anti-sailing” design) that bolt to existing frame/bumper holes (no drilling in many cases).

  • A black extruded aluminum stabilizing bar / frame helps support the flap and reduce flapping or vibration.

  • The flap hangs via linch pins (yellow zinc) for quick removal/installation.

  • It remains functional in cold temperatures — the rubber stays flexible down to about -40 °F.

  • It’s built to “hug” the bumper line to maximize protection while avoiding contact with OEM exhaust or other components.

Key Features & Benefits

FeatureBenefit / Why It Matters
Model-specific contouringFits closely to your truck’s rear profile, maximizing protection while avoiding interference with exhaust or other components.
5⁄16″ composite rubberThick enough to block debris and stones, but retains flexibility (even in extreme cold) to reduce cracking or brittleness.
Anti-sailing bracket designHelps reduce wind lift / “sail effect” so the flap stays stable at speed.
Corrosion-resistant hardware Resists rust and corrosion, essential when exposed to moisture, salt, road grime.
Quick on/off mounting You can remove the flap (for cleaning or non-use) easily and reinstall without tools.
Wide / full coverage designOffers maximum protection behind dual wheels or wide trailers, protecting both the truck and towed load from debris.
Cold-resilient materialMaintains flexibility in cold climates, reducing chance of cracking in winter.

Together, these features provide:

  • Better protection for the rear of your trailer, undercarriage, cargo, or anything trailing the truck

  • Reduced stone chips, damage from kicking dirt or debris

  • Lower maintenance / repair costs from wear and tear caused by flying debris

  • Ability to remove or stow the flap if you don’t always need it (for instance, when not towing)

  • Longevity in harsh environments (salt, snow, rough roads)

Ideal Use / Applications

The ROCKSTAR Commercial Tow Flap is especially well suited when:

  • You drive a heavy duty truck or dually pickup and tow large trailers (gooseneck, fifth wheel, flatbeds, etc.)

  • You frequently travel on roads that kick up rocks, gravel, or debris (rural, highway, unpaved, construction zones)

  • You want maximum rear protection over a full width, not just behind individual wheels

  • You want a flap that is still removable (so you can take it off for cleaning, storage, or when not towing)

  • You live in a cold climate or operate year-round, where material flexibility in low temps is important

  • You prefer an installation that uses existing mounting locations (frame holes) and doesn’t require heavy modifications

Care & Maintenance

To ensure the flap lasts and performs well, here are maintenance and care best practices:

  1. Regular inspection

    • Check for cracks, tears, or excessive wear in the rubber.

    • Inspect the mounting hardware (bolts, brackets) for corrosion, looseness, or bending.

    • Check the linch pins and bracket holes — ensure they’re not worn excessively or elongated.

  2. Cleaning

    • Periodically wash off mud, dirt, salt, and road grime. These can abrade surfaces and accelerate corrosion.

    • Rinse off deicing salts in winter to prevent corrosion of metal parts.

    • Use mild soap / water; avoid harsh solvents that may degrade rubber or coatings.

  3. Lubrication / Protectants

    • Apply a rubber protectant (silicone-based, non-petroleum) to the flap’s rubber surface occasionally to keep it supple.

    • Lubricate pins or pivot points lightly (don’t overdo—just to prevent seizing).

    • For metal brackets, if you see bare metal or chip-off paint, touch up with rust-preventive coatings.

  4. Tightening and torque checks

    • After initial installation and periodically, re-check torque on mounting bolts to ensure none have loosened from vibration.

    • If any fasteners become compromised (stripped threads, corrosion), replace them.

  5. Storage / removal

    • When removing, store the flap flat or adequately supported so it doesn't warp or get damaged.

    • If the flap is off for long periods, clean and protect the rubber and metal before storage.

  6. Replacement / repair

    • If rubber is cracked beyond safe use, or mounting hardware fails, replace those components rather than trying to patch weak material.

    • Use only manufacturer-recommended parts for replacements to maintain fit and safety.

  7. Height / clearance adjustment

    • Ensure that during use, the flap does not drag on the ground (especially with load). Maintain recommended clearance.

    • If your vehicle height changes (e.g. due to suspension modifications or heavy loads), reassess flap position and adjust if needed.
