The AMP Research BedStep™ is a retractable bumper-mounted step designed for pickup trucks. Installed under the rear bumper, it flips down with a light kick to help you easily access the truck bed—especially useful when lifting heavy items or avoiding awkward footing on the tailgate or bumper. Care & Maintenance

Although the BedStep is engineered for all-weather durability and minimal upkeep, following these practices will help ensure long-term reliability:

1. Rinse periodically after heavy exposure to mud, road salt, or sand to prevent buildup and corrosion.

2. Visual inspection: check pivot pins, bushings, and frame connections periodically. If you notice play or rust, contact the manufacturer or a certified installer.

3. Lubrication: in most cases, no regular lubrication is needed thanks to self‑lubricating bushings. However, if pivot action becomes stiff, a light application of moisture-displacing lubricant (like silicone spray) can help—be sure it’s compatible with Teflon® surfaces.

4. Usage check: when stepping down or stowing the step, it should move smoothly. If binding or unusual noise occurs, stop using it and have it checked.

5. Winter care: ice can restrict movement—gently melt or remove ice buildup before deploying.
